New Years in Munich

A few sausages and many beers later, we have some pretty fond memories of the 2 nights we spent in this fine Bavarian city. We met people from many different countries and learned to say Happy New Year in several different languages. But most importantly, we were able to taste the various types of German brews Munich has to offer.

A Few Days in Paris

We got to see all the main attractions, but my favorite part, aside from just walking the streets and people watching, was a café on Rue Rivoli called Angelina, where their famous hot chocolate is so rich they have to serve it with water. A professor at my school recommended it and the interior of the place is absolutely beautiful. This picture must have been pre-parisien hat, because it became a permanent fixture on Jake's head after he chose it as his Christmas present from me, at one of the shops which was also on Rue Rivoli. He was convinced that, along with the scarf, the hat somehow transformed him into a genuine Frenchman. Right.

Chez Julien

On one of our last days visiting the Standaerts, we were able to visit Julien, who showed us his beautiful house for which he had made most of the furniture with his own hands! We were spoiled with two different pies, wine, and then hot chocolate. Visiting family in Europe was obviously accompanied by constant eating. We couldn't refuse!

Christmas in Feuquières

I got to make the bûche de Noël with Isabelle while Jake was watching Brice de Nice. They put English subtitles on for him! Isabelle even gave me a copy of the recipe, so get ready cuz I'm going to make some next Christmas. This time, Christmas Eve dinner only lasted about 5 hours. Here you can see the first main course (after the apéritif): oysters. So much slurpy fun!

C'est partie!

Here we go, we're at Gare Montparnasse in Paris, soon to be on our way to Beauvais, and it's freezing cold so we're huddled around a heater. This pretty much sums up most of the trip. Lots of train stations.

Crazy Streets of Angers

Jake got into town on Wednesday, just in time to go out Thursday night, the busiest night in Angers because its when all the students go out. After the bars closed, we found other ways of amusing ourselves.
